We need to talk about Coachella. You thought it couldn’t get any more star-studded, trend-packed and fashion-forward, but it did. Here’s the EyeFitU insider scoop on fresh festival style.

Heading deep into the Colorado Desert, festivalgoers channel that LA cool vibe, dressing for the heat. Carefree and colourful, this is a summer trend that pays homage to a city-meets-beach lifestyle. Think cutting-edge design with hints of retro bohemian vibes and surf style. Vibrant colour is reflective of the season with bold print and pattern inspired by a global traveller aesthetic. To ground these clashing colours, we spotted a neutral canvas of white and navy.
If you’re heading to Coachella without your oversized tee, forget it. The simple piece with loose silhouette encapsulates Californian summer fun. Those that love experimenting should opt for vacation inspired graphics, retro band logos or eye-catching slogans. For something sleeker, counteract the casual piece with fine cotton jersey in fresh shades.

A day-to-evening essential, the slit dress is enjoying its shining moment in cotton or fine silk cut at maxi length. The ongoing metallic trend lends itself effortlessly to this piece, amped up further with multiple gold and silver rings or layered necklaces.

SS17/18 ruffle separates pop up everywhere at Coachella showing you can do no wrong with updated basics. The woven top or miniskirt turns heads with exaggerated frilly details. As seen at Peter Pilotto, baby blue cottons and soft white jersey offer everyday luxury. Coordinated separates are hot for another season, this time showing off oversized ruffles on sleeves and hems.
The pretty prairie girl look receives a revamp via 1990s grunge influence and youthful sportswear. Layer it up with ethereal peasant dresses (they’re back!) clashed with sports socks or a graphic tee. Hyper-feminine pieces, such as the frilly mini dress, should be paired with classic gingham or overlaid with a bralet top. Snap up must-have pieces from the likes of Urban Outfitters and Topshop and nail offbeat styling.

Festival favourite, the peasant dress, dotted Coachella in lightweight fabrics and bold summer florals. Details to note this season include lace-up necklines and billowing sleeves.

Frills adorn both midi and maxi lengths. Offset the classic boho piece by styling with an oversized denim jacket to move your look into youthful, festival-ready attire.
Take this easy, breezy trend into the nighttime with micro trend Western Nights. Traditional Western themes wander from the norm with a partywear focus to include fitted silhouettes and cropped hemlines. Daring cropped vests and bra tops are paired with fringed suede skirts or the festival staple, frayed hem micro shorts.
Don’t forget to balance the look with cocoon-shaped suede jackets or proportion-play denim. Aside from the youthful streetwear ensembles, prairie style nightwear was also explored through waist wrap detailing, peasant blouses (reworked with sophisticated Bardot necklines), plus micro-length hemlines to show off that desert tan.
Coachella wouldn’t be Coachella without heaps of athleisure making its way towards the main stage. Effortless off-duty looks, propelled by urban street style and the Instagram famous, mix elevated basics with sleek accessories that provide a talking point. We noticed an unexpected premium feel via soft jersey and ruched details. Check out River Island for neutral shades and soft pinks driving the look, broken up by a hefty splash of metallic. When you can’t wear a cutting-edge silver bomber jacket due to the rising temperatures, invest in a vintage belt or statement accessories to add flourish.

Taking the trend one step further, festivalgoers attracted attention in recoloured camo prints and true 90s silhouettes. Key items to add to your wardrobe now include crop top styles from the lettuce-hem bandeau to the underband bra and lattice bralette. Add cargo pants or tracksuit bottoms for an edgy appeal. The sportswear logo, in particular the classic Adidas motif, was never far from the gym vest or sports sock.

For those just dipping into the trend, playful pop-inspired undertones work for festival fashion. Eclectic layered styling, brightly coloured accents and tactile trims refresh trusty summer outfits. We spotted hi-lo styling in the form of feminine lace blouses or long-line mesh tees that revealed statement neon bikinis or sporty Speedo swimsuits. Catching the light, sequin embellishment also lends itself to Sports Luxe. Tailored satin skirts and skorts, featuring drawstring waists, are livened up thanks to embellished bandeau crop tops or ‘more is more’ bralettes.
